I did not realize that while I included my website (www.silkbush.com) with you that that info was not automatically posted. So for anyone else who is interested in South Africa, RSA wine, etc., you now have it.

Sounds excellent. BTW, have you tried the latest vintage of the Shya red yet? Have seen it at Pete's and am thinking about checking it out. Did you get the Tinto at the winery?

I particularly like the Christmas tree in the background. As you know, probably all too well, your loves Christmas-tree ornaments. Do you know of any Christmas-tree decorations with a wine theme? How happy would your mother be to hang a decoration on her tree with a miniature bottle of "Pauley-Z" wine?

You wrote, "If you’re a ... family member ... interested in sharing one of these bottles, let me know. I will probably say yes." Well, as your father, I am hereby informing you of my interest in sharing one of your bottles. Does that mean I still have to pay, as usual?

Disclaimer: I live in Pennsylvania. You probably knew that. But ...

Question: When will Full pull its weight in the state so your mother and father can try Washington State wineries other than Chateau Ste. Michelle?

JLC is very much alive and kicking although their website appears to be off the map... Yes, they've released their 2005 Spofford Station Syrah - I have a bottle in my cellar. They also had their 2003 Palette blend on sale for $15 which I felt was a great deal. Requires a solid filtering and decanting though!!!

Check out Adamant (great reds!!), Kontos (their 2006 Merlot), and I heartily recommend Tapteil on your way out east. They also sell some really nice olive oils and balsamic vinegars, and it's at end of the road up to Red Mountain - nice surroundings. Alexandre Nicole in Prosser is a nice lunch spot and you can try wine while they bring you lunch! Good prices on the food too.

Oh, and if Ensemble is open you should really check it out. They're doing a blended vertical type of wine with 3 years of wine in one bottle. Kind've a moving average approach, like the blended tawny ports.

Tamarack also has a few reserve wines which are very good, and don't receive good distribution on the west side of the mountains. Their Sagemoor was my favorite.

Have fun!

Comment on Lake Chelan AVA is Approved by JudyP

Lake Chelan wineries have been making award-winning wines for years and the AVA designation this week is a recognition of the distinctive and exceptional growing conditions.
Lake Chelan acts as a heat reservoir, moderating the temperatures in the winter so that we don't get as severe temperatures as elsewhere.
For full disclosure, I own Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards at Lake Chelan and am president of the Lake Chelan Wine Growers Association. On May 30th we celebrate the new AVA with a valley-wide participation by Lake Chelan wineries. Great time to come out and taste the Chelan terroir for yourselves. Go to lakechelanwinevalley.com for more info.
